About the Red Panda
The red panda is about the size of a house cat and spends most of its life in trees. It eats mostly bamboo, and uses a special wrist bone like a "false thumb" to grip the stems. Its thick ringed tail helps it balance and keeps it warm like a blanket. Fewer than 10,000 remain in the wild.
