About the Greater Flamingo
The greater flamingo is the largest flamingo species, standing up to 1.5 m tall. It feeds with its head upside down, filtering tiny shrimp and algae from the water with its beak. Its pink colour comes from pigments in this food. Flamingos often rest standing on one leg and live in large, noisy colonies.
